Must Have Item for 2011

Today's Agenda:  Enjoying the first biz day of 2011 -- Happy New Year!

First order of the day was to scope out some online sales...just to make sure I didn't miss anything spectacular.   My best deal of the post-holiday sales has to be from West Elm in Tysons Corner last week during their 20% off sale items sale.  Check it -- these Chevron curtains that were originally $79 per 108" panel are now mine for just $11.75 per panel! They are gorgeous in person.

Seems like this year there are some great sales in the stores, a little more than online.  I did make sure to check out Garnet Hill online though.  I am always drawn to their catalog -- I love how effortless some of the clothes look with boots, tights, cute black dress and pretty scarf.  The pieces I liked were already sold out but I did find some fun home items including the MUST HAVE ITEM OF 2011. The collapsible basket.

I have two of these and am not sure what I would do without them.  They are so sturdy perfect for grocery shopping, carrying stuff for projects, books, just about anything.  And you take these side things that make the basket stand up out and it collapses and easily hides away in your coat closet or backseat of the car.  When I was in New York a couple of weeks ago for husband's surgery, I had all of our food, water and randomness in one of these and seriously had at least 3 people stop me and ask me where I got the basket.  Well, Garnet Hill has these in black and the retro pattern in the lower left corner for a pretty decent price.  You could find them for a little less at Marshalls/Homegoods/TJMaxx but since that's a little hit or miss I would just get two of these (one for each hand) and call it a day.

I hope everyone has a great 2011!  I'm excited for new projects, more travel, constant inspiration and exciting adventures.

  1. I agree these baskets are pretty great. For the guy, the natural resolution is remembering to bring your reusable basket or bag to the store. (And by the way, these particular baskets are well strong enough for beverages.)
