I also wanted to share photos of the baby shower we threw for two great friends, Dina & Neil, that are expecting their first baby in October! We tried to keep it fun and light and make it just a good chance for friends to hang out with the couple before baby makes three in October.
For the invites, we wanted to make them sophisticated but fun...and not too intimidating that the guys wouldn't want to come. So after finding the wrapping paper to use as the envelope liners, the color scheme fell into place. Turquoise blue + Chartreuse green!
We included the invite, insert for where the couple is registered and insert with directions. Here is the full suite.
I love this font for this occasion -- Handwriting/Dakota. And the blue embossing powder + chartreuse ink color with clear embossing powder with this whimsical stamp was just right.
Paper Source came through in a big way and had these vellum envelopes on sale.
Easy inserts to make -- just print the text on labels and stick on these pre-cut cards I also found on sale @ Paper Source.
Dina made these incredible poufs for the decor. You'll see we couldn't contain the pouf action!
Close-up of the poufs. I really want to make these and just have them around. They added so much!
Lime izzes for the mom-to-be. And they happen to fit in with our color scheme :)
What says baby shower like salsa and chips in scrumptious milk glass pedestal bowls?
Cupcakes made locally. Lemon + Chocolate = Yum.
We also sprinkled turquoise Bell jars filled with white Hydrangeas around the house. And color coordinated napkins in an on-trend Chevron pattern...
The poufs found their way into the dining room as well -- perfect accent to the Parisian chandelier! And background to all of the food...
...Watermelon, mint, feta, red onion salad...
...summer potato salad with no mayo and edamame!...
...regetable casserole with yellow peppers, zucchini, yukon gold potatoes and tomatoes...
...butter lettuce with blueberries, avocados, orange peppers and toasted pine nuts...
...THE best hush puppies from a local NC BBQ joint...
...And the really yummy BBQ!
Had to have a game...since no name has been chosen yet for the baby we asked guests to make up a name that consisted of the name of their first car (make or model) for a first name with the last name of a celebrity that has their first name (or the last name of a celebrity you would want to have a baby with if no one has your first name!).
Instead of printing out cards, just cut up color coordinated paint chips...
...And added a little embossing.
Having fun thinking about some good names! "Ranger Kross", anyone??
And for a favor, the mom-to-be craves Oreos and milk during this pregnancy so Costco came through and had these packs of Oreos and individual Chocolate Milks!
We had so much fun and their house is an amazing place to host a party in!! Every dish you could ask for (in white milk glass!!) and lots of space and great company.
(Did you notice the Queen in the dining room photo??? Here's a close-up. It's just on a canvas! If you like them, you can find them here.)
And a sneak peek of the nursery in progress!! I brought the rug down that weekend and was so excited that it works!! Not quite done yet but it's almost there!
Look! This is @ an early stage of the process! So fun to see how it has all come together.
