Today's Agenda: Getting through the mail...it's neverending, right?!?!
A highlight of getting the mail though is my mom's clippings that she sends from time to time! And they always include notes and dates, which I love ;)
This article that my mom sent was a good reminder to be patient. As a lawyer, I felt like there was never enough time to really get it right (or maybe I was going for perfect??). Documents had to be sent; multiple clients managed; conference calls had, and all within a 24 hour time frame. In my new world, I have the luxury of working on client projects at my own pace and really enjoy working hard on a design for a day or two and then leaving enough time where I can let the design sit for a few days so that I can come back to it. Maybe I'll think, what was I thinking?? Or, that's really great, I'll leave as is. Or I'll have much better idea for a paint color or layout. I think it's hard to be creative in the pace we currently live in. But it is actually very doable. And apparently, it takes work. Which is good to know.
My new take on multitasking is that it doesn't mean answering 2 emails, being on 3 phone calls and having 5 people in your office wanting 10 different things all at the same time while looking amazing, well-rested and have just worked out. But rather it is the ability to manage several projects at a time and allocate the right amount of time to each to work efficiently and devote enough time to each to do a great job. And, it actually includes getting a full night of sleep (no, we don't have kids yet so I do very much appreciate this luxury :)) and most days a good work out in.
