They can be useful. But many times they can just end up being a nuisance (i.e., odd-shaped, dust collector, generally annoying).
I think you just have to think about how to best use them, exactly what you need them for and at some point be willing to move on.
I couldn't quite move on from these while I was perusing the Crate & Barrel outlet site...they would be great organizing items!
Let's start with this petite one...
Great for:
*Cotton balls
*Little girls' hairbands
*Binder clips
*Randomness
Or these "picnic baskets". I suppose you could use them as a picnic basket -- a bottle of red wine, baquette, cheese and thermos of soup would fit perfectly. But I'm thinking more for:
*Stationery
*Toilet paper
*Cards from your dear friends
*Cards to send to your dear friends
{and they look really precious stacked nicely! // spray paint them any color too! (yes, I feel like I may become addicted to spray painting things -- watch out!)}
Or these modern, streamlined beauties. Perfect to set five or six of them along a very long white lacquer shelf. Place your favorite magazines in, stack some vintage teacups and saucers in, or, do I dare say it, just leave empty.
