Today's Agenda: Hoping I'm not getting sick + squeezing in some of the following -- Brainstorming + Preparing Design Scheme Presentation for Client + Drafting Save the Dates.
I was just updating a few of the links (see "Always on My Agenda" on the tool bar on the right of the page) and blogs (see "On Other People's Agenda") and was letting my mind wander off to a few sites to check out this morning...
One of my go to sites for any project is to the Kids/Teen versions of some of the larger chain stores -- e.g., PB Kids, PB Teen, Land of Nod. You never know what you'll find so may come across something that would be unique in a room -- many times the furniture is sized for adults as well (cause sometimes a teen is not that much different than an adult, right?) but is less expensive, they have lots of white items and things like curtains, rugs, shelves seem to be on sale more often than at their adult counterpart stores. The trick is steer clear of buying more than one item in a primary color, baby blue or pink.
Here are some items that would translate well into an adult's redesign.
Retro Rings Drapery in a family room with a neutral palette, in an office with a dash of citron green to brighten it up...
Garden Party Rug in a beautiful all white bedroom over a wood floor...
Ripple Rug in an office with a Parsons desk from West Elm, retro chrome desk chair, glass lamps and a soft grey on the walls...
Task Lamp great look for an all white office or with black and white accents...
Classic Curtain Rod simple, understated and perfect in any room...
Over the Door Hooks where have these been my entire life?
Get it Together Mirror a great solution if you have a large bathroom (a problem I would love to have!) or a separate dressing area. Perfect to set out items for vacation, a work week, or hang to dry without hanging in the bathroom or all over the bedroom. ( I love the chocolate wall too.)
Mia Chandelier Great in the all white bedroom with the Garden Party rug above...
Fisherman Ceiling Lamp perfect understated style for an entryway or covered porch area...
Round Dot Bath Mat fun colors for a bathroom with a touch of grey to cool it down, maybe some fluffy grey towels...
Wood Grain Rug Could look great in a dining room with a white pedestal table and lots of glass to make it less "woodsy"...
Chenille Shower Curtain beautiful blue for a calm guest bathroom, head to Restoration Hardware outlet for some white towels and add some striking black and white framed photography to modernize...
